The Southwest plays a primary role in
the art of Doris Brunenkant. Specializing in oils and concentrating on
still life, her classic painting style lends itself to her fascination
with the interaction between light and shadow. “I was born in San Diego, California and lived in different areas of California until I was twelve. It was my family’s move to a small desert community bordering Arizona that fostered my appreciation of how beautiful the desert can be, an appreciation that grew during my many years of living in Tucson, Arizona. I became entranced by morning and evening light; how just a small change in lighting could transform something ordinary into something quite beautiful.” |
